Light

In Europe all the lamps are delivered with a light source: either a suitable bulb or a buil-in LED. The bulb is an example of a suitable light source for the model in question. There migh be variation in the bulbs due to supply. We recommend warm white (827, 2700– 3000 K) LED bulbs in our lamps. More information can be found on the product pages. At least 15 mm of space should be left between the bulb and the shade to allow air to circulate. Please regularly ensure that the ring on the lamp holder which supports the wooden shade is tightly fastened. If a dimmer is used, please check the compatibility of the dimmer and the light source in question. The use of special bulbs such as halogen, mirror or 12 V is forbidden due to overheating.

Build-in LED

The built-in LEDs are included worldwide in the Owalo, Aspiro, Atto and Kuulto lamps. The current life span estimation of LED is approximately 15 000 hours. Replacement light sources together with the exchanging instructions can be ordered from Secto Design. 

The Secto Design LED lamps use Osram LEDs. Due to the rapid development of LEDs and changes in supply, Secto Design reserves the right to switch the LED components to components equivalent or better than the current ones. We recommend dimmers that are optimized for built-in LEDs.

Cables

The colour of the cable depends on the lamp model and the colour of the shade. The standard cable colours are listed in the product information of each model. 

There is a ceiling cup as well as a connector included in the cable set of the pendant lamps. The Magnum and Owalo pendants are equipped with balancing steel wires. The wall lamps come with a cable and a switch or alternatively with a direct wall mount option. The cables of the table, floor, and wall lamps in the Owalo collection have a transformer. The cables or any other parts used in Secto Design lamps should not be replaced for safety reasons.

Installation and maintenance

When necessary the assembly and installation instructions are available for downloading on the product pages. Please note that the pendants should not be installed closer than 15 cm from the ceiling in order to let air circulate.

For the maintenance of the wooden shades wipe dust regularly. To remove fresh stains wipe with a slightly moist cloth.

Important

LEDs.Secto Design lamps have been tested in an authorised test laboratory, and they comply with all the requirements for CE marking. The models marked with "ETL/CETL" on the North American site are also available with ETL/CETL cabling.

Secto Design Oy is liable for manufacturing flaws when notice is given within a reasonable time. As the lamps are made of birch which is a natural material please be aware that, as with every birch tree in the forest, every Secto Design lamp is unique too. Therefore, slight differences in the lamps’ finish are normal. The Original Secto Design lamps are sealed with a hologram label from December 2017 onwards.
